HSE Lead

About the role

The HSE Lead will drive Health, Safety and Environmental programs across SPIRO’s manufacturing facilities, service workshops and swap stations in Ghana. You will ensure compliance with local and international regulations, embed best‑practice risk management and support the company’s ESG commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Ghanaian E&S laws and international standards such as IFC, World Bank and ISO.
• Conduct risk assessments, safety audits and incident investigations at all sites.
• Implement waste‑management, emissions‑control and resource‑efficiency initiatives.
• Develop and deliver HSE/ESG training for employees and contractors.
• Oversee HSE reporting, performance tracking and data accuracy.
• Act as primary liaison with regulatory bodies, external auditors and manage CAPA implementation.
• Collaborate with site teams to foster a strong safety culture and operational sustainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of HSE experience in manufacturing, energy or industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of Ghanaian E&S regulations and global ESG standards (IFC, World Bank, ISO).
• Proven experience with management‑system implementation and ISO certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
• Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH or ISO Lead Auditor are preferred.
• Excellent leadership, analytical and communication abilities.
