Human Resources Officer (Field Only) - Tamale

About the role

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is looking for a Human Resources Officer to support the Ghana Country Office's HR strategy and operational plans from its Tamale office. The role provides responsive HR services to staff and managers, with a strong emphasis on field-office support, and is open to candidates who can legally work in Ghana.

Key responsibilities

• Support the HR Manager in delivering HR programs and services, with timely support for Tamale and related field locations
• Help coordinate HR processes so they meet agency, donor and Ghana labour law requirements
• Assess HR service needs and advise Tamale managers and staff on routine staff management
• Collect input on HR processes and policies and help review and update systems, manuals and guidelines
• Support professional development needs assessments and coordinate learning, orientation and staff engagement activities
• Maintain personnel files and HRIS records in line with CRS, donor and Ghana labour law requirements
• Support analytical reports on HR data, metrics and trends for decision-making and workforce planning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration or a related discipline
• At least five years' HR experience, preferably in an NGO, with at least three years overseeing an HR function
• Good knowledge of Ghana labour law
• Willingness to travel up to 20% within Ghana, including to Accra and field locations
• English required; proficiency in a local language of northern Ghana is an advantage

Required skills

• MS Windows and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Web conferencing applications and HRIS
• Strong relationship management, customer service, planning and communication skills
• Able to keep confidential information

Preferred: experience with an international or local NGO, HR certification or relevant HR courses. No supervisory responsibilities. Benefits depend on the country of employment.
