Human Resources Officer (Field Support)

About the role

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is looking for a Human Resources Officer to support the Ghana Country Office's HR strategy and operational plans from its Tamale office. The role provides responsive HR services to staff and managers, with a strong emphasis on field-office support, recruitment coordination, onboarding, staff development, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits administration, policies, staff care and employee administration.

Key responsibilities

• Support the HR Manager in delivering HR programs and services, with timely support for Tamale and related field staff and managers.
• Coordinate HR processes so they meet agency, donor and Ghana labour law requirements and best practice.
• Assess HR service needs and advise Tamale managers and staff on routine staff management.
• Contribute to reviewing and updating HR systems, manuals, guidelines and tools.
• Support professional development needs assessments and coordinate learning, orientation and staff engagement activities.
• Maintain personnel files and HRIS records, and support HR data reports for workforce planning and audit readiness.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration or a related field.
• At least five years' HR experience, preferably in an international or local NGO, with at least three years overseeing an HR function.
• Good knowledge of Ghana labour law and employment regulations.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% within Ghana, including to Accra and field locations; English required, local languages of northern Ghana an advantage.
• No supervisory responsibilities.

Required skills

• MS Windows and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), web conferencing applications and HRIS.
• Strong relationship management, customer service, planning and organisational skills.
• Able to keep confidential information and communicate well with internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred: experience with an NGO and HR certification or relevant HR courses. Benefits depend on the country of employment.
