Infrastructure Technician (Electrical & Telecom)

About the role

CANAL+ Telecom Ghana, a telecom operator providing very high-speed internet through its own fibre-to-the-home network (CANALBOX), is hiring an Infrastructure Technician based in Accra. The role is a polyvalent position covering preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, installation and commissioning of new equipment, and electrical infrastructure management, working under the supervision of the Engineering Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Perform, ensure and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance of telecom points of presence, generators, air conditioning and network devices, and create and follow up on a weekly task schedule.
• Install and commission equipment (VCC, VAC, air conditioning, generators) with internal or external resources, and plan interventions with hardware, tools and documentation.
• Assess constraints, risks and feasibility of interventions, communicate their purpose and impact, and comply with safety standards and GVA's internal processes.
• Wear PPE, mark intervention areas, respect safety distances from low/high voltage sources, and aim for zero accidents.
• Assist in writing calls for tenders, monitor infrastructure project implementation and produce progress reports, and develop infrastructure management procedures.
• Be available on call for network monitoring and critical incident management, and complete any other tasks assigned by management.
• Report issues to superiors, write activity reports and summaries, and generate daily, weekly and monthly reports while complying with QHSE and anti-corruption rules.

Required profile

• BAC+2 or higher in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Valid B driving licence and driving experience.
• Ability to work alone or in a team, take initiative, and handle on-call duties outside regular hours.

Required skills

• Diagnosis of faults and attention to detail.
• Mastery of the IT environment and ecosystem.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networks is a plus.
