Internal Auditor (Banking)

About the role

The Internal Auditor will report directly to the Board of Directors and lead the internal audit function of Kumawuman Rural Bank. This senior position ensures that audit policies, procedures and performance standards align with the bank’s operational needs and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Internal Audit function, ensuring policies, procedures and performance standards meet operational needs.
• Conduct pre‑auditing and post‑auditing of expenditures.
• Co‑operate with external auditors to facilitate successful audits of the bank’s financial statements.
• Carry out operational and ad‑hoc investigations and address issues arising from audit exercises.
• Generate accurate, objective reports for management and the Board on compliance with control procedures.
• Investigate violations of operational procedures and recommend preventive or remedial actions.
• Maintain accurate financial records and uphold organisational and professional ethical standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Banking with a professional qualification (ICA, ACCA, CIB); MBA is an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years post‑qualification experience in finance or banking, with at least 5 years in a management role.
• Strong analytical, planning and leadership abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Must be at least 45 years of age.

Required skills

• Proficiency with e‑merge (T24) banking software.
• Computer literate (general IT skills).
