Internal Auditor – Banking Sector

About the role

The Internal Auditor will safeguard the bank’s assets by establishing robust internal controls and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves auditing financial processes, reviewing expenditures, and collaborating with external auditors to maintain the highest level of financial integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor an effective internal control system across all banking operations.
• Conduct regular audits of accounting systems, procedures, and bank books to verify accuracy.
• Review and approve proposed expenditures, ensuring they meet internal control policies and budgetary limits.
• Liaise with external auditors, address audit findings, and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Assess and recommend improvements to accounting systems and controls.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations and regulatory reporting requirements.

Required profile

• First Degree in Commerce/Administration (Accounting) or Part II of a recognized professional qualification, with 5‑10 years of banking audit experience, or HND in Accountancy with 7‑10 years of relevant experience.
• Maximum age of 45 years at the time of application.
• Strong sense of responsibility and result‑oriented work attitude.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Familiarity with T24 Banking Software (advantageous).
