Internship: Translator/Interpreter (French, Portuguese, Arabic, Kiswahili, Spanish)

About the role

The AfCFTA Secretariat is offering a short‑term internship for final‑year university students to support translation and interpretation activities across its multilingual work environment. Interns will gain hands‑on experience in an international organization while contributing to the free‑trade agenda of the African Union.

Key responsibilities

• Translate working documents from English/French into French, Portuguese, Arabic, Kiswahili or Spanish, as required.
• Provide oral interpretation during meetings, audiences and discussions.
• Assist corporate functions of the Secretariat with language‑related tasks.
• Help promote AfCFTA initiatives to the public, especially youth audiences.

Required profile

• Final‑year student enrolled full‑time at a recognized university.
• National of an African Union member state and resident in Ghana.
• Strong command of English and at least one of the target languages (French, Portuguese, Arabic, Kiswahili, Spanish).
• Ability to work in a multicultural, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Translation proficiency between English/French and the target languages.
• Interpretation skills for meetings and presentations.
• Multilingual fluency in English and one or more of French, Portuguese, Arabic, Kiswahili, Spanish.
