IT Support Officer

About the role

Ashesi University is looking for a proactive IT Support Officer to join its Information Technology Department, which manages campus networks, data centres, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, audiovisual systems and IT support services. The officer provides general IT support, cybersecurity, MIS support, network infrastructure work and project research and documentation, and reports to the Assistant Director - Network Security and Infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day technical support for hardware, software and IT systems, install and configure computers, printers and peripherals, and respond promptly to service requests.
• Help implement and maintain cybersecurity measures, monitor systems for vulnerabilities and keep antivirus and firewall tools up to date.
• Support the MIS platform, help departments report data accurately and on time, and train users on MIS systems.
• Assist with installing, configuring and maintaining network infrastructure, troubleshoot connectivity issues and monitor network performance.
• Support IT projects and prepare documentation for systems, processes and projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in IT support roles, preferably in a similar capacity.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of IT systems, hardware and software.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and tools.
• Knowledge of MIS platforms and reporting systems.
• Basic understanding of network infrastructure and protocols.
