Laboratory Technician – Diagnostic Testing

About the role

The Laboratory Technician will perform diagnostic testing on patient samples with high accuracy and speed. Working under the Laboratory Manager, you will manage the full sample lifecycle—from receipt and verification to analysis and reporting—while ensuring compliance with SOPs, quality standards, and safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, verify, and log incoming samples; reject unsuitable specimens and record reasons in the LIMS.
• Set up and calibrate analyzers (e.g., Cobas, Vitros, Sysmex) daily, load calibrators and quality‑control materials, and monitor performance graphs.
• Load bar‑coded samples onto analyzers, monitor runs, troubleshoot errors, and repeat tests that fall outside analytical ranges.
• Perform manual or semi‑automated assays such as ESR, blood grouping, and rapid tests as required.
• Validate results in the LIMS, flag abnormal values, and ensure immediate communication of critical findings.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, perform routine maintenance, and manage inventory of reagents and consumables.
• Update the LIMS in real time, coordinate with internal teams, and uphold a safe, compliant laboratory environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Experience operating Cobas, Vitros, and Sysmex analyzers.
• Barcode scanning and sample tracking.
• Centrifuge operation and sample preparation.
• Quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) procedures.
• Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
