Librarian

About the role

The University Librarian leads the Koforidua Technical University Library, reporting directly to the Vice‑Chancellor. The role ensures that up‑to‑date information resources support teaching, learning and research across the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive collection of print and digital resources aligned with academic needs.
• Manage the library budget, procurement, and allocation of resources.
• Oversee staff recruitment, development, and performance to ensure high‑quality service.
• Ensure equitable access to information services in both physical and virtual environments.
• Implement and supervise library and records management software in line with the university’s vision.
• Comply with university statutes and contribute to policy development.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Library or Information Science; PhD preferred.
• Minimum six years experience as Deputy Librarian or equivalent senior role.
• Member of a professional librarianship or information science body.
• At least 15 scholarly publications.
• Demonstrated leadership, staff motivation and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with library management and records management software.
• Strong computer literacy.
