Logistics Manager - Import/Export & Customs Clearance

About the role

The Logistics Manager executes and optimizes all logistics, freight, import/export and customs clearance activities so that materials and finished products move in Ghana in a timely, compliant and cost-effective way. The role manages freight forwarding partners, customs agents and transport vendors, and ensures full documentation governance and SLA adherence across the logistics chain.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate shipment execution with the Logistics and Customs Clearance plan aligned to procurement and supply chain objectives, working with Customs House Agents and freight forwarders to meet clearance timelines.
• Prepare, maintain and control import, export and domestic shipment documentation, including duties, levies, taxes and charges, and archive it.
• Ensure compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority customs regulations, import/export laws and ECOWAS trade requirements, and coordinate shipments through Tema Port and Kotoka International Airport cargo operations.
• Manage transport vendors, freight forwarders and customs clearing agents, including insurance coverage, vendor evaluation, rate negotiation and SLA monitoring.
• Generate periodic shipment performance reports, attend performance reviews with freight partners, and obtain approvals for logistics costs per the company approval matrix.
• Reduce customs clearance lead times, avoid demurrage and penalties, and identify process automation and inventory visibility improvements.

Required profile

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in logistics, customs clearance, import/export operations or supply chain management.
• Strong knowledge of Ghana customs regulations, GRA procedures, ECOWAS trade protocols and shipment documentation; experience with Tema Port and customs agents in Ghana is highly preferred.
• Proven vendor management and freight cost negotiation ability.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and logistics tracking/reporting tools is an advantage.
