Maintenance Specialist – Process Plant

About the role

The Maintenance Specialist will ensure the Process Plant operates safely, reliably and efficiently by overseeing mechanical equipment, coordinating maintenance activities and driving continuous improvement. This position supports the redevelopment of the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, mechanised operation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain plant availability by monitoring and controlling machinery according to engineering standards.
• Ensure personal and team safety, oversee contractor safety, and aim for zero injuries.
• Coordinate task allocation, monitor work quality of technicians and contractors, and provide guidance.
• Administer and resolve technical maintenance issues, manage work orders in SAP and the work‑management system.
• Lead capital improvement projects, conduct audits, and update safety control programs.
• Train supervisors and technicians, develop short‑ and long‑term maintenance plans within budget.
• Collaborate with other departments to preserve mechanical integrity of crushers, conveyors, pumps, SAG and ball mills, screens, cranes, cyclones, compressors, tailings facilities and related steelwork.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within an industrial or mining environment.
• Strong safety mindset with a duty of care for team and contractors.
• Ability to plan, prioritize and follow‑up on multiple maintenance tasks.
• Effective communicator who can train staff and liaise across functions.

Required skills

• SAP (maintenance module) and work‑order management systems.
• Mechanical equipment troubleshooting and repair.
• Knowledge of plant assets such as crushers, conveyors, mills, screens, pumps, and hoists.
