Maintenance Specialist – Process Plant

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine and seeks a Maintenance Specialist for its Process Plant. The role ensures reliable operation of critical mechanical equipment, supporting the mine’s goal of producing up to 5,000 t/day of ore.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control machinery and mechanical equipment to maximise plant availability while minimising cost and risk.
• Coordinate task allocation, supervise technicians, contractors and service providers, and ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Administer and resolve technical maintenance issues, using SAP and the work‑management system to record orders and defects accurately.
• Conduct regular safety audits, support zero‑injury and zero‑incident environmental objectives, and review operating procedures and risk assessments.
• Lead maintenance of crushers, conveyors, pumps, SAG and ball mills, vibrating screens, feeders, cranes, hoists, cyclones, compressors, blowers, tailings facilities and associated steelwork.
• Participate in capital improvement projects, recommend training programmes, and assist with tool and equipment requisition.

Required profile

• Experienced in mechanical maintenance within a process‑plant or mining environment.
• Self‑motivated, safety‑focused and able to work under minimal supervision.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks, contractors and documentation.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and support continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SAP for maintenance planning and work‑order management.
• Hands‑on knowledge of mechanical equipment such as crushers, conveyors, mills and pumps.
