Manager, Mining - KMS

About the role

The Manager, Mining - KMS is accountable for developing, enhancing and sustaining the operating systems and processes of the mining function, and for delivering project-related initiatives that drive continuous improvement. The role is based in Kumasi and the Ashanti Region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement systems, processes and work practices that improve operational efficiency, and define and document QA and QC requirements.
• Create detailed improvement plans covering process flow, cross-functional collaboration, codes of practice and policies, and run a continuous improvement pipeline covering mining techniques, costs, contracts, compliance, risk, standardisation, technology access, capital and team development.
• Deliver timely, budget-compliant mining plans that meet technical specifications and show productivity gains.
• Manage the annual cost centre budget, staffing and support, and build a risk management plan for the budget.
• Define and approve projects, set short-, medium- and long-term plans aligned with strategy, and monitor plan versus actual performance.
• Develop and manage transition plans to achieve operational excellence.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline; Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency or equivalent preferred.
• At least 10 years of underground mining experience, of which at least 5 years in senior supervisory roles.
• Proven track record in operational management, project planning and integrating mining processes.
• Experience developing and executing budget plans and understanding of mining cost drivers.

Required skills

• Familiarity with mining software and advanced mine planning tools (crucial).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability.
