Mandatory Subjects Instructor (English, Math, Science, ICT, Entrepreneurship, Social Studies)

About the role

African Centre for Technical Training (ACTT) runs national certificate programmes that combine technical training with generic subjects so learners can follow the technical lessons effectively. This part-time, contract position (up to 6 months, renewable) reports to the Vice President, Training & Quality Assurance, and covers English Language, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, Entrepreneurship and ICT. Lessons are interactive and practical, supporting a competency-based approach.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver well-structured, engaging lessons in the assigned subject(s)
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials
• Use teaching methods that promote active learning, critical thinking and problem-solving
• Assess learner performance regularly and give timely feedback and academic support
• Maintain records of attendance, assessments and student progress
• Work with other Facilitators and the Training & Quality Assurance Lead on cross-subject integration
• Take part in team meetings, training workshops and professional development
• Ensure teaching meets CTVET standards and perform other tasks assigned by the lead

Required profile

• Higher National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Education or a relevant subject (English, Mathematics, Science, Social Sciences, Business Administration, etc.)
• Teaching or facilitation experience, preferably in a vocational or competency-based setting
• Excellent communication, facilitation and classroom management skills
• Proficiency with digital tools for instruction
• Comfortable in a start-up environment and aligned with ACTT's mission and ethics
• Nice to have: CTVET-accredited Facilitator, fluency in English and local languages, attention to detail and data-informed decision-making
