Marketing & Business Development Officer

About the role

Terrific Scientific Busters (TSB) is hiring a Marketing & Business Development Officer in Accra on a contractor basis. The role combines social media and digital marketing with active customer acquisition, school outreach and partnership building, with the aim of generating enquiries, bookings and referrals for science parties, science shows and STEM services.

Key responsibilities

• Social media and digital marketing: manage and grow TSB's presence on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, run a weekly content calendar, create posts, Reels and short videos, capture event photos and videos, and use tools such as Canva or CapCut.
• Customer acquisition: develop awareness strategies, reach parents and families, promote science parties, science shows and STEM services, follow up prospects, track leads and bookings, collect feedback and encourage referrals.
• School and educational outreach: research and contact schools, nurseries and educational organisations, promote science shows, workshops, after-school clubs and science camps, arrange meetings and build long-term relationships.
• Business development and partnerships: build referral, promotional and commercial partnerships with children's party planners, event planners, birthday party venues, indoor play centres, photographers, parenting organisations, corporate bodies and others.
• Local marketing and networking: represent TSB at local events, conduct market research, monitor competitors and identify new opportunities in Accra and surrounding areas.
• WhatsApp and customer communication: use WhatsApp Business to respond to enquiries, share approved marketing materials and follow up with prospects.
• Reporting: provide a weekly report to the manager covering social media activity, enquiries, follow-ups, bookings, schools contacted, meetings secured, partnerships, achievements and priorities.

Required profile

• Experience in marketing, sales, business development, communications or a related field.
• Excellent spoken and written English and strong interpersonal skills.
• Confidence approaching schools, parents and businesses.
• Ability to work independently and give regular updates; a proactive, organised and commercially minded approach.
• Desirable: experience in children's entertainment, education, STEM, events or party planning, and existing connections in schools or children's venues in Accra.

Required skills

• Experience using social media platforms for business and creating engaging content.
• Basic graphic design and video editing with Canva or CapCut.
• Good knowledge of WhatsApp Business.
