Material Handling Supervisor

About the role

The Material Handling Supervisor will lead a team of maintenance technicians responsible for the operation, maintenance and optimisation of conveyor and material handling systems at the Obuasi Gold Mine. This role ensures safe, reliable and cost‑effective material movement to support the mine’s production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily work, training and performance monitoring of maintenance technicians on conveyors and handling equipment.
• Implement and enforce safety management plans, conduct inspections, audits and job hazard analyses (JHA).
• Monitor plant availability, minimise operational risks and ensure compliance with Ghanaian regulatory approvals and the site’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Investigate process interruptions, apply analyse‑and‑improve tools and drive continuous improvement of design and field safety performance.
• Support the Processing Department in maintaining Cyanide Code certification and optimise energy consumption per unit produced.

Required profile

• Experienced in supervising maintenance teams within a mining or heavy‑industry environment.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations with a zero‑tolerance approach to breaches.
• Proven ability to lead safety‑focused initiatives and deliver compliance with integrated management systems.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and capable of working under pressure to meet production targets.
