Material Handling Supervisor

About the role

The Material Handling Supervisor will lead the maintenance and operation of conveyor and material handling systems at the Obuasi Gold Mine. Reporting to the Mine Services Superintendent, the role ensures safe, compliant and cost‑effective plant availability while supporting the mine’s refurbishment and long‑term production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, train and monitor maintenance technicians working on conveyors and material handling equipment.
• Implement and enforce the Safety Management Plan for the assigned area, including inspections, audits, JHAs and incident investigations.
• Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, government approvals and the site’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Analyse process interruptions, apply improvement tools and optimise energy consumption per unit of production.
• Support the Processing Department in maintaining Cyanide Code certification.
• Collect and report performance data to demonstrate adherence to refurbishment and maintenance schedules.

• Ability to drive continuous improvement in design, field safety and operational efficiency.
