Mechanical Technician – Surface Mine Infrastructure

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, fully mechanised operation. We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to maintain and refurbish surface‑mine infrastructure, ensuring safe and compliant operation of critical plant equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical maintenance on fridge plants, primary vent fans (BVS, CAT 300, SNVS, KMVS, GCVS), generator sets, paste‑fill systems and surface/river pumping stations.
• Execute refurbishment tasks in line with Ghana government and AGAG safety and environmental regulations.
• Conduct daily pre‑start checks, create tool checklists and transport required equipment to job sites.
• Provide movement signals to crane operators and recognise equipment anomalies for timely escalation.
• Enter and close work orders in SAP, supporting the Maintenance Planner.
• Coordinate with contractors and construction teams on mechanical work plans.

Required profile

• Secondary education plus a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five years post‑apprenticeship experience in a mechanical trade.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.
• Commitment to personal and team health and safety.

Required skills

• Mechanical maintenance of industrial plant equipment.
• Crane operation and safe signalling.
• Proficiency in SAP for maintenance work orders.
• Basic electrical trade competence.
