Medicine Counter Assistant

About the role

Stereda Pharmaceuticals Limited, a Ghanaian pharmaceutical and healthcare provider founded in 2008, is hiring a part-time, on-site Medicine Counter Assistant for its Afrikiko branch. The assistant receives and organises medicines, helps customers with over-the-counter products and supports pharmacists in dispensing medication according to prescriptions and regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and organise medicines and assist customers with over-the-counter products
• Support pharmacists in dispensing medication according to prescriptions and regulatory guidelines
• Stock shelves and check product labels and expiry dates
• Handle cash and electronic payments
• Maintain a clean, orderly and safe counter area
• Provide courteous customer service and answer basic medicine-related queries within approved guidelines
• Refer complex or clinical questions to the pharmacist
• Work closely with pharmacy team members and follow health and safety procedures

Required profile

• Secondary education completed
• MCA certification from the Pharmacy Council
• Knowledge of medicine handling and basic pharmaceutical products
• Attention to detail, accuracy with prescriptions, and basic numeracy for cash handling and stock counts
• Ability to stand for long periods and work flexible part-time shifts, including evenings and weekends
• Prior experience in a pharmacy, clinic or retail health environment is beneficial
