Mine Captain – Production

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, self‑motivated Mine Captain – Production to lead quality assurance, control and risk management for underground ore extraction at the Obuasi Gold Mine. The role is regulatory‑mandated and critical to delivering safe, efficient and profitable production.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain QA, QC, risk management and contractor engagement processes for the mine redevelopment.
• Develop and communicate a rolling quarterly (4‑3‑2‑1) plan outlining production priorities, milestones and events.
• Prepare and submit the annual cost‑centre budget and deliver production within approved budget, timelines and KPIs.
• Demonstrate safety leadership, promote a strong safety culture and integrate environmental management into production plans.
• Provide systems, resources and expertise to develop the production team and ensure consistent delivery of budgeted outputs.
• Drive implementation of projects, foster accountability and continuous improvement within the mining department.
• Maintain constructive stakeholder relationships to collaboratively achieve the mine plan.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Six to eight years of operational experience in underground development and open‑stop mining.
• Valid Mine Captain’s Certificate of Competency (or equivalent) as required by the Minerals Commission.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mining software applications.
