Mine Captain – Production

About the role

The Mine Captain – Production will lead quality assurance, control and risk management for underground ore extraction at the redeveloped Obuasi Gold Mine. This regulatory‑mandated position ensures production processes meet safety, environmental and budgetary standards while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain QA, QC, risk management and contractor engagement processes for the mine redevelopment.
• Develop and communicate a rolling quarterly (4‑3‑2‑1) production plan, identifying priorities, milestones and events.
• Prepare the annual cost‑centre budget and deliver production outputs within approved budgets, timelines and KPIs.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and promote a strong safety, health and sustainable development culture.
• Integrate environmental management into the production plan and its implementation.
• Provide systems, resources and expertise to develop the production team to meet budget and plan targets.
• Drive project implementation, accountability and continuous improvement across the mining department.
• Maintain constructive stakeholder relationships to collaboratively deliver the mine plan.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Six to eight years of operational experience in underground development and open‑stope mining.
• Broad leadership, managerial and technical skills relevant to underground mining.
• Strong knowledge of the mining operations value chain and commercial acumen.
• Ability to interpret data and make sound tactical decisions.
