Mine Captain – Production

About the role

The Obuasi Gold Mine is completing a major redevelopment to become a modern, efficient underground operation. We are looking for an experienced Mine Captain – Production to lead quality assurance, risk management and contractor engagement for ore extraction activities.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain QA, QC, risk management and contractor processes for the mine redevelopment.
• Develop and communicate a rolling quarterly production plan, identifying priorities, milestones and events.
• Prepare and manage the annual cost‑centre budget to meet production targets.
• Deliver production results within approved budgets, timelines and KPIs while ensuring safety leadership.
• Integrate environmental management into production planning and execution.
• Provide systems, resources and expertise to develop the production team.
• Drive continuous improvement and accountability across the mining department.
• Maintain constructive stakeholder relationships to achieve the mine plan.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Mining Engineering or equivalent operational experience.
• Six to eight years of underground development and open‑stope mining experience.
• Valid Mine Captain’s Certificate of Competency (or equivalent) as required by the Minerals Commission.
• Strong leadership, managerial and technical abilities in underground mining.
