Mine Captain – Production

About the role

The Mine Captain – Production leads quality assurance, control and risk management for underground ore extraction at Obuasi Gold Mine. This regulatory‑mandated position ensures mining blocks are extracted to plan, on schedule and to required standards.

Key responsibilities

• Establish QA, QC, risk management and contractor engagement processes for the mine redevelopment.
• Develop and communicate a rolling quarterly plan that identifies production priorities, milestones and events.
• Deliver mining production within approved budget, timeframes and key performance indicators.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and integrate environmental management into production plans.
• Drive project implementation, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Mining Engineering (or equivalent operational experience).
• Six to eight years of operational experience in underground development and open‑stope mining.
• Valid Mine Captain’s Certificate of Competency (or equivalent) as required by the Minerals Commission.
