Officer, Communication & External Relations

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is hiring a full-time Officer, Communication & External Relations for its Idiapriem Gold Mine in Ghana. The role supports the mine's internal and external communication strategy through content creation, event and media coordination, digital platform management and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Organise media coverage for mine events, including media packs, media engagements and radio discussions.
• Monitor and manage the mine's website, social media pages and intranet.
• Research, write and produce press releases, news flash, quarterly newsletter, annual community magazine, website and social media content.
• Support documentaries, short videos and other digital materials on the mine's operations and socio-economic interventions.
• Provide communication support for mine-wide events and prepare speeches for the Managing Director and senior leadership.
• Support the production of calendars, diaries and other branded materials.
• Support participation in awards, conferences and exhibitions, including profiling nominees and achievements.
• Maintain the communication and external relations log and support meetings on strategic stakeholder engagements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, social sciences, international relations or a related field.
• At least one year of experience in a similar role in the mining industry or a similar environment.
• Valid driver's licence and ability to drive a light vehicle.

Required skills

• Strong writing, editing and storytelling skills across print, digital and social media.
• Good media relations, stakeholder engagement and event planning skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook).
• Basic knowledge of the mining industry.
