Operator – Vent Fans & Fridge Plant

About the role

The Operator – Vent Fans & Fridge Plant will join the Surface Mine Infrastructure team at AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi Gold Mine. Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, the role is responsible for safely operating primary ventilation fans and the fridge plant during refurbishment and ongoing mine operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate primary vent fans (KMVS, CAT 300, BVS, pastefill) and the fridge plant in compliance with Ghanaian regulations and AGAG standards.
• Perform daily pre‑start equipment and tool checks and report any anomalies.
• Execute short‑interval measures, monitor equipment performance, and escalate maintenance needs.
• Coordinate with contractors and construction teams for mechanical tasks.
• Provide accurate data to the Maintenance Planner and manage work orders in SAP.
• Adhere to the site’s Environmental Management Plan and health & safety legislation.
• Participate in required training and development activities.

Required profile

• Senior High School Certificate.
• Successful completion of a recognized trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years post‑apprenticeship experience in a related mechanical trade.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.

Required skills

• Operation of KMVS, CAT 300, BVS ventilation fans.
• Fridge plant and pastefill plant handling.
• Conducting pre‑start checks and equipment inspections.
• Use of SAP for work‑order creation and closure.
• Understanding of mining safety and environmental compliance.
