Professor – Institute for Oil and Gas Studies

About the role

The University of Cape Coast invites qualified candidates to join the Institute for Oil and Gas Studies as a Professor. The position is tenure‑track and focuses on teaching, research, and scholarly leadership in energy, petroleum economics, engineering, commerce, and natural resource law.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the designated oil and gas disciplines.
• Conduct high‑quality research and publish refereed work in the candidate’s area of specialization.
• Supervise graduate students and contribute to curriculum development.
• Demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and a collegial learning environment.
• Advance research and scholarship by adopting new teaching and research methodologies.

Required profile

• Academic qualifications appropriate for the rank of Associate Professor, including a PhD in a relevant field.
• Minimum six years of teaching and/or research experience at the Associate Professor level or equivalent senior academic experience.
• At least eight refereed publications since the last appointment as Associate Professor, or a total of twenty refereed publications since appointment as Senior Lecturer, assessed by external reviewers.
• Evidence of professional or research contributions relevant to oil and gas studies.
• Appointment will be by tenure.
