Project Manager – Strengthening Newborn Respiratory Care

About the role

The Project Manager will lead an 18‑month initiative funded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints to reduce preventable newborn deaths in Ghana by strengthening respiratory care in district hospitals. Reporting to the Senior Technical Advisor for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, the role combines technical, operational and partnership management to ensure the project meets its health outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the project work plan, budget and timeline in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and Ministry of Health.
• Coordinate procurement, logistics and financial reporting in line with donor requirements.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation and learning activities using existing government data systems (DHIMS2, facility registers).
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement with regional health directorates, hospital staff and community partners.
• Prepare regular donor reports and ensure sustainability planning for post‑project hand‑over.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing health‑sector projects in low‑resource settings.
• Strong understanding of newborn and neonatal respiratory care interventions.
• Excellent communication and partnership skills with government and NGOs.
• Ability to travel within Ghana and work on‑site in Accra.

Required skills

• Familiarity with DHIMS2 (District Health Information Management System) for data collection and reporting.
