Quality Assurance Manager

About the role

The Quality Assurance Manager ensures that at least 98% of released crop deliveries meet the agreed buyer specification and applicable food standards, while keeping 100% of shipments documented with a QA release before departure. The role is field-based, working regularly across farms, aggregation points, fulfilment centres, packhouses, warehouses and shipment locations, and reports to the Chief Operations Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Design, maintain and enforce the end-to-end quality-assurance framework for every crop and trade lane, turning buyer, legal, certification and internal requirements into controlled SOPs, checklists, sampling plans and acceptance criteria.
• Prepare a quality plan for each material trade and run pre-trade quality-readiness reviews with Commercial, Agronomy, Crop Sourcing, Supply Chain, Production and Logistics.
• Conduct risk-based farm, grower, cooperative, agent and supplier audits, verify corrective actions and set approval, probation and requalification criteria.
• Control receiving, aggregation, inventory and processing: unique identification, sampling, inspection, segregation, quarantine and rejection of lots, and audit of sanitation, cold chain and stock rotation.
• Perform final lot and shipment inspection, compile the shipment quality dossier and issue a documented QA release only when all criteria are met; place anything on hold when requirements are not met.
• Run a nonconformity and corrective-action register, lead root-cause analysis, coordinate quality investigations with Commercial and Customer Success, and maintain withdrawal and recall procedures.
