Research Consultant for Baseline Survey on Child Care in Ghana

About the role

Challenging Heights is seeking a Research Consultant to lead a baseline survey on the effects of lack of parental care on children in six districts of southern Ghana. The consultant will design and implement quantitative and qualitative data collection to inform program design and advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the research methodology and questionnaire in collaboration with Challenging Heights staff.
• Conduct quantitative surveys with approximately 60 children (balanced gender) in each district.
• Carry out in‑depth qualitative interviews with key stakeholders and vulnerable children.
• Analyse collected data and produce a comprehensive baseline report.
• Provide actionable recommendations for gender‑specific interventions and program monitoring.

Required profile

• Proven experience in social or child‑protection research, preferably in Ghana or similar contexts.
• Strong understanding of survey design, data collection, and ethical considerations when working with children.
• Ability to travel to and work in remote district assemblies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
