Rigger and Ropesman (Mining Operations)

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti Ghana is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Rigger and Ropesman to join our team and ensure safe, efficient lifting and rigging activities across the site.

Key responsibilities

• Perform rigging and lifting duties in line with company standards and legislation.
• Inspect, maintain and repair lifting and rigging equipment, reporting any defects.
• Operate the issuing and receiving store for safe storage of rigging tools and special equipment.
• Hoist, move, tilt, dip and turn loads, selecting appropriate gear (cables, pulleys, winches) based on weight and size.
• Install ground rigging, align and anchor machinery, and fabricate or repair rigging structures.
• Attach pulleys and blocks to overhead structures and dismantle equipment after use.
• Stop operations when a high‑risk condition is identified and report to the Ropes Specialist.

Required profile

• Secondary education level.
• Mobile Crane Riggers certificate.
• Minimum 3 years proven experience in rigging or a comparable construction field.
• Ability to use precision measurement tools and equipment.
• Legal requirement: Mincom Certificate of Competency.
• Commitment to personal and team health, safety and environmental standards.
