Senior Database Administrator

About the role

The Senior Database Administrator will ensure that mission‑critical databases run smoothly, securely and with high availability. You will lead backup automation, disaster‑recovery planning, performance tuning and capacity management for Oracle, MSSQL and MySQL environments supporting core banking and transactional systems.

Key responsibilities

• Automate backups for production and ad‑hoc databases and manage disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Configure Oracle Data Guard and set up replication across the Ecobank Group.
• Install, configure and monitor Oracle, MSSQL and MySQL instances to meet performance, availability and security standards.
• Provide 3rd‑level support during end‑of‑day, month‑end and year‑end processes and act as on‑call escalation point for production and UAT databases.
• Produce weekly incident and growth reports and ensure 99.95% uptime.
• Plan capacity for storage, memory, CPU and tablespaces and maintain documentation of configurations and procedures.
• Guide and assist database implementation projects, ensuring compliance with the bank’s governance framework.

Required profile

• Senior‑level expertise in managing enterprise databases.
• Proven experience with 24 × 7 production support and incident resolution.
• Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues in real time.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with developers, project managers and other IT staff.
