Senior Driver

About the role

The Senior Driver will provide secure and timely transportation services for IDE Ghana staff, equipment and other items. The role requires a high level of discretion, integrity and a client‑oriented approach while working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Key responsibilities

• Transport personnel and goods safely to designated locations.
• Coordinate daily driver movements and ensure smooth vehicle operation for program staff.
• Maintain the vehicle in good running condition: perform minor repairs, arrange major repairs, monitor oil, tires, brakes, water levels and keep the vehicle clean.
• Ensure all required documents are up‑to‑date (insurance, registration, logs, first‑aid kit, spare parts).
• Track insurance renewals, road‑worthiness and other regulatory requirements.
• Monitor security situations in the work region and inform staff promptly.
• Record vehicle usage for fuel and service reporting.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by supervising officers.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional driving experience, preferably in an NGO environment.
• Age between 25 and 40 years.
• Familiarity with the three Northern Regions of Ghana.
• Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs and establish professional relationships with staff.
• Knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
• Mechanical experience is a plus.
