Senior Forester

About the role

Rainforest Builder is seeking a Senior Forester to lead its large‑scale forest restoration projects across the Upper Guinean Forest in Africa. The role will oversee all phases of forest management, ensuring sustainable practices while supporting the company’s mission to restore one million hectares of degraded land.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive forest management plans aligned with sustainability goals.
• Conduct forest inventories, assessments and growth modelling; monitor forest health, pest and disease control.
• Ensure compliance with local and state forestry regulations and implement soil and water conservation best practices.
• Supervise and mentor junior foresters, technicians and field crews; coordinate with contractors, loggers and external stakeholders.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets, oversee equipment maintenance and procurement, and track key performance indicators.
• Liaise with government agencies, environmental NGOs and local communities, representing the organisation at industry meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior forester or forestry manager in large‑scale tropical forest projects.
• Strong technical forestry expertise combined with leadership and team‑development skills.
• Ability to balance ecological objectives with organisational and commercial goals.
