Senior HSE Advisor

About the role

The Senior HSE Advisor will design and implement programs to prevent disease, injury and environmental impacts across North‑West African mining operations. Working within global HSE standards, the role ensures compliance, drives continuous improvement and supports a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with regional HSE laws, mining regulations and environmental requirements.
• Advise management on regulatory changes and liaise with government authorities and external consultants.
• Maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications, lead internal audits and coordinate external audits.
• Develop, track and report HSE objectives and performance metrics.
• Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments and manage Management of Change processes.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action follow‑up.
• Oversee contractor HSE performance and deliver inductions and safety training.
• Support waste management, pollution prevention, spill response and environmental monitoring.
• Implement crisis management plans and act as emergency officer during drills.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in safety management, environmental health or related science.
• NEBOSH General Certificate.
• Internal/Lead auditor certification for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Minimum 8 years of HSE experience in a manufacturing or mining environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Auditing skills for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Risk assessment and incident investigation methodologies.
• Knowledge of HSE legislation and regulatory compliance.
