Senior Procurement Officer – Surgical Supplies

About the role

The Senior Procurement Officer (Surgical) will lead the sourcing and purchasing of all surgical‑related items and consumables for the centre. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the role ensures that the right products are available at the right time, cost and quality to support clinical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Procure surgical, clinical and non‑clinical consumables, managing the full purchase cycle from request to order.
• Maintain inventory levels, stock control and accurate data in the Hospital Information System.
• Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to meet KPIs and avoid shortages or waste.
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts and ensure value‑for‑money outcomes.
• Prepare delivery reports and coordinate with stores and finance for timely supplier payments.
• Act as deputy for other procurement officers when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in supply chain management, preferably within health or medical centres.
• Proven track record in category management and handling high‑value medical contracts.
• Experience with various procurement and contracting models, including strategic development of procurement strategies.
• Strong negotiation abilities and familiarity with dispute‑resolution tools.
• Background in leading change programmes and managing multi‑tier supplier environments.
