Specialist Engineer – Mining Short‑Term Planning

About the role

The Specialist Engineer will develop, manage and deliver detailed underground engineering packages, ensuring alignment with technical standards and project objectives. This role supports medium‑term to daily execution planning for Newmont’s Ghana operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee integrated underground mine plans from medium‑term horizons through daily execution, aligning with business and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the creation, review and issuance of rolling medium‑term, monthly, weekly and daily schedules, ensuring tactical plans match production and financial commitments.
• Coordinate cross‑functional planning inputs, secure technical reviews and operational approvals, and manage resource levelling, constraint management and schedule optimisation.
• Oversee performance‑to‑plan reconciliation, root‑cause analysis and subsequent plan adjustments.
• Lead risk management, change control, recovery planning and budget realignment for underground operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (or related engineering with demonstrable underground design competence).
• Minimum 8 years of mining‑engineering experience, including at least 5 years of direct underground mine‑planning experience.
• Professional registration or eligibility with a recognized engineering body, preferably the Engineering Council Ghana.
• Advanced knowledge of underground mining methods, development, production, ventilation, and related infrastructure.
