Teacher / Senior Teacher – Physical & Health Education

About the role

The University of Ghana Basic School is seeking a Teacher or Senior Teacher to deliver Physical and Health Education (PHE) instruction. The role involves planning and delivering lessons, assessing student performance, and fostering a supportive learning environment for both academic and extracurricular activities.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Physical and Health Education, including sports, to students in the Basic School.
• Plan, prepare, and lead engaging PHE lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
• Organise and supervise student participation in sporting events and competitions.
• Develop and administer assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
• Maintain an orderly classroom, enforce behaviour rules, and address disciplinary matters fairly.
• Identify and support students with special needs, collaborating with special‑education staff as required.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, performance, and other required documentation.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and school staff regarding student progress.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school‑wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with a background in Physical and Health Education.
• Ability to design lesson plans that meet state and school curriculum standards.
• Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to an inclusive learning environment.
• Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to school policies.
