Truck Mechanic

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Truck Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on heavy‑duty trucks and a variety of construction and mining equipment. The successful candidate will ensure equipment reliability, minimise downtime, and uphold safety standards in both workshop and field environments.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnose mechanical faults using appropriate tools, testing equipment and technical knowledge.
• Repair and maintain engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, braking systems, electrical components and other mechanical systems.
• Inspect equipment routinely to identify defects and potential failures.
• Replace damaged or worn‑out parts and verify correct installation.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports and equipment history documentation.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise operational downtime.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements.
• Collaborate with operators, supervisors and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Experience repairing and maintaining heavy machinery, trucks or industrial equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, mechanical systems and electrical troubleshooting.
• Ability to read technical manuals, drawings and equipment service documents.
• Relevant technical qualification or certification in Mechanical Engineering or Heavy Equipment Maintenance is an advantage.
