TSF Operations Supervisor

About the role

Gold Fields Ghana is looking for an experienced Tailings Supervisor (TSF Operations Supervisor) to provide technical and on-site supervisory support so that the site's tailings facilities are constructed, operated, managed and maintained in line with current industry standards and best practices. The role reports to the Tailings Facility Engineer and works with a team to achieve its goals.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure implementation of the TSF Operation, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) manuals, including dam safety protocols and Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans.
• Ensure compliance with the Gold Fields Group TSF Management Standard, GISTM, Ghanaian regulations and international best practices.
• Collect, document and review operational and monitoring data on tailings transport and discharge pipelines, decant return pumps and pipelines, and use it to build a proactive maintenance regime that prevents unplanned downtime to milling.
• Protect the geotechnical integrity of the TSFs by reviewing monitoring data and acting promptly when needed.
• Provide operational supervision so that process plant water supply needs are met and TSF ponds stay within recommended size limits.
• Coordinate with the process team and supervise maintenance activities around process plant shutdowns to keep TSFs ready for milling.
• Respond to emergencies and unusual operating conditions to protect personnel and minimise impact on production, environment and costs.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all TSF areas.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Civil, Geological or Mining) or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in planning, operations, monitoring and performance analysis of tailings and water management facilities.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, guidelines and international dam safety standards, preferably for mining dams and tailings management.
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills, exceptional leadership and coaching ability, and a hands-on approach.
• Valid Ghanaian driver's licence.
