Vent Fans & Fridge Plant Operator

About the role

The Operator – Vent Fans & Fridge Plant will join the Surface Mine Infrastructure team at AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi operation. You will be responsible for safely running the primary ventilation fans and the refrigeration plant, supporting both refurbishment and ongoing production activities.

Key responsibilities

• Operate primary vent fans (KMVS, CAT 300, BVS, pastefill) and the fridge plant in accordance with Ghanaian and AGAG regulations.
• Perform daily pre‑start equipment and tool checks before leaving the workshop.
• Monitor short‑interval measures, report any anomalies and escalate maintenance needs.
• Prepare equipment checklists, transport required tools, and recognise signs of potential failure.
• Provide data to the Maintenance Planner, open and close work orders in SAP, and ensure safe working envelopes are maintained.

Required profile

• Senior High School Certificate.
• Successful completion of a recognised trade apprenticeship (e.g., City & Guilds).
• Minimum five (5) years post‑apprenticeship experience in a related mechanical trade.
• Familiarity with Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health, Safety and Technical) Regulations.

Required skills

• Operation of KMVS, CAT 300 and BVS ventilation fans.
• Fridge plant and pastefill plant operation.
• Conducting pre‑start equipment checks.
• Mechanical troubleshooting and anomaly reporting.
• Use of SAP for work‑order creation and closure.
