Development Finance Associate

About the role

The Development Finance Associate will support UN‑Habitat’s Smart SDG Cities initiative and other programmes in Ghana by driving resource mobilisation, financing analysis and partnership development. This position offers exposure to high‑impact urban development projects and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing a resource mobilisation strategy aligned with Smart SDG Cities and UN‑Habitat programmes.
• Monitor and analyse existing partnerships and identify new donor opportunities, including traditional and non‑traditional sources.
• Prepare and draft funding proposals, concept notes and substantive briefs that reflect UN‑Habitat’s mandate.
• Support the identification, prioritisation and financial assessment of SDG impact projects across Ghana.
• Conduct research on donors, prepare briefs on cooperation areas and contribute to overall office resource‑mobilisation efforts.
• Help design innovative financing mechanisms such as public‑private partnerships and outcome‑based financing.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in development finance, resource mobilisation or related fields.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess funding streams and project feasibility.
• Excellent written communication for proposal drafting and donor briefings.
• Ability to work collaboratively with UN agencies, government bodies, private sector and multilateral partners.
