Engineering Technician – Radio

About the role

The Engineering Technician – Radio will be based at Gold Fields Ghana’s Tarkwa site and will be responsible for the day‑to‑day maintenance and performance of all radio communication equipment used for operational safety, public address, emergency vehicle sirens and ancillary systems.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain radios, public address systems, emergency sirens and related ancillary equipment.
• Perform routine fault tracing and maintenance of telephone subscriber lines.
• Install, configure and support VHF/UHF analog and digital radio systems, including MotoTRBO digital radio communication.
• Troubleshoot basic network faults and ensure reliable connectivity for handheld and vehicle‑mounted radios.
• Extend radio services to new areas and propose improvements to prolong equipment lifespan.
• Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

Required profile

• HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Relevant Electronic Technician Certificate (Pat III) or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum three years of experience in radio or telecommunications maintenance.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and see tasks through to completion.
• Valid Ghanaian driving licence is an advantage.
