Station Accountant

About the role

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a Ghanaian national to serve as Station Accountant for its Ghana Station. The role supports the station’s finance and accounting functions, ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Oracle EBS modules (AP, AR, I‑Expense, FA) and ensure proper controls.
• Monitor budgets, prepare periodic financial reports, and conduct general ledger reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, tax payments, and statutory filings (PAYE, SSF, etc.).
• Supervise accounts assistants, expense claim processing, and procurement payments.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, manage banking relationships, and process bank transfers.
• Handle monthly payroll preparation and closing for staff, consultants, and casuals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; professional qualification (CA, ACCA, etc.) required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in an international NGO or similar environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English and strong teamwork orientation.
• Self‑motivated, independent problem‑solver with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Required skills

• Oracle EBS (AP, AR, I‑Expense, FA) proficiency.
