Regional Head of Compliance & AMLRO – AWA Region

About the role

The Regional Head of Compliance & AMLRO will lead compliance risk management across Ecobank Ghana and the AWA region, ensuring adherence to all legal, regulatory and ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support the bank in meeting all regulatory obligations and avoid fines, sanctions, or penalties.
• Identify potential compliance or regulatory breaches and develop effective financial crime, regulatory compliance and conduct programs.
• Provide strategic advisory support to business units on new products, digital initiatives and regulatory implications.
• Monitor regulatory changes, report developments to EXCOM and the Board, and maintain a robust Compliance Monitoring Plan.
• Manage correspondent banking relationships and act as the primary interface with regulators.
• Establish and maintain written policies, procedures and guidelines for the compliance function.
• Educate staff on compliance requirements, oversee whistle‑blowing programs and drive a strong compliance culture.
• Liaise with Internal Control, Internal Audit, Legal, Risk Management and other functions as needed.

Required profile

• Strategic support to regional executives on regulatory compliance matters.
• Ability to assess the impact of regulatory changes and guide implementation.
• Experience preparing and monitoring compliance budgets and reporting to senior management and regulators.
• Strong escalation and governance skills for significant compliance issues.
