Director of Finance

About the role

The University College is seeking a senior finance professional to lead its financial management and administration. Reporting directly to the President, the Director of Finance will provide strategic financial advice and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Inform, update and advise the President on the university’s finances on a regular basis.
• Prepare financial statements, accounts and estimates for Academic Board and Council consideration.
• Collect receivables, authorise payments and manage cash flow.
• Develop, present and monitor the annual university budget.
• Maintain books of accounts and records in accordance with Council and Auditor‑General requirements.
• Report any deficiencies in financial record‑keeping to the Finance Committee.
• Prepare consolidated accounts for all university units.
• Facilitate internal and external audits.
• Identify and source funding opportunities for the university.
• Ensure compliance with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
• Undertake any additional assignments delegated by the Council or President.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Member of a recognised professional accounting body (e.g., ICA Ghana, ACCA, CIMA).
• At least ten years of post‑qualification experience as a finance professional.
• Four years in a senior finance role within a university or comparable institution, or fifteen years in a reputable firm, industry, commerce or public service.
• Proven track record of integrity, competence, leadership and communication.
