Electrical Engineer – Transmission Line & Substation

About the role

Electrofax Engineering Services (GH) Limited is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to provide technical support for the design review, construction supervision, testing, commissioning and energisation of a 161kV transmission line and associated substation relocation works in Accra.

Key responsibilities

• Review transmission line and substation engineering designs for compliance with utility standards and codes.
• Supervise installation of transmission line structures, conductors, insulators, OPGW and related accessories.
• Monitor substation equipment installation, including transformers, switchgear, CTs, PTs, protection and control systems.
• Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) and verify protection and control schemes.
• Conduct inspections, technical assessments and resolve issues during construction and commissioning.
• Validate as‑built documentation and engineering records.
• Participate in system testing, commissioning and energisation activities while ensuring electrical safety and permit‑to‑work compliance.

Required profile

• BSc in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience on high‑voltage transmission line and substation projects (161kV or above preferred).
• Experience with transmission line relocation, substation construction, protection systems and commissioning.
• Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of utility standards, engineering codes and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams, often in remote project locations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering/project‑management software.
