Head of University Basic School

About the role

The University of Ghana invites applications for the Head of its University Basic School (UBS). Reporting to the Registrar and the Management Committee, the Head will lead the school’s administration, drive academic excellence, and ensure financial sustainability for a growing student body of over 2,000 pupils.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and long‑term vision for the three departments: Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High.
• Implement the Ghana Education Service curriculum across all levels and supervise lesson preparation, delivery, and assessment.
• Lead academic interventions and data‑driven monitoring of student and teacher performance.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and income‑generating activities to support the school’s self‑financing model.
• Manage infrastructure projects and ensure continuous improvement of facilities.
• Integrate appropriate technology to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment processes.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualifications and proven experience in school leadership or administration.
• Strong strategic thinking, decision‑making, and risk‑management abilities.
• Deep understanding of the Ghana Education Service curriculum and basic education standards.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage human, financial, and material resources effectively.
