Accountant – University Finance Department

About the role

The accountant will support the Director of Finance in managing and administering the financial functions of the university, ensuring compliance with the Technical University Act, 2016. The role requires an analytical, innovative mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Finance in overall management and administration of office functions in line with the Technical University Act, 2016.
• Maintain accurate and timely financial records, ensuring compliance with university policies and statutory regulations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis activities for various university departments.
• Coordinate with other departments to process financial transactions and resolve discrepancies.
• Supervise junior staff and provide guidance on accounting procedures.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant with a Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum two years experience as an Assistant Accountant in a university or comparable institution.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills.
• Analytical, critical, result‑oriented, innovative and visionary mindset.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines under pressure.

Required skills

• Strong IT proficiency.
• Familiarity with accounting software applications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
