Commercial Manager, Volta Region

About the role

Farmerline, which works with small-scale farmers since 2013 and uses its Mergdata platform for farmer registration, financing and traceability, is hiring a Commercial Manager for the Volta Region. The role leads commercial operations with farmers and agribusinesses, recruits outgrowers for buyer contracts, prepares clients for bank financing and ensures timely delivery of high-quality produce. It reports to the CEO and succeeds the interim Volta coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit outgrowers through Mergdata client partnerships and field-force channels, register them on the platform with consent, align them with planting schedules tied to guaranteed off-take, and negotiate contracts with farmers and aggregators.
• Build a bank-ready pipeline of farmer organizations and agribusinesses: vet them for input credit and asset financing, support KYC, impact data collection and loan applications, categorize clients by off-taker status, and drive applications from submission to disbursement and recovery.
• Ensure off-take volume and quality commitments are met: generate weekly harvest forecasts in JustFarm, assess farm-gate quality before aggregation and transport, and work with the ICS and certification team on organic compliance.
• Act as the main regional representative in Volta, building relationships with cooperatives, aggregators, agribusinesses and the District Departments of Agriculture.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in agribusiness sales, outgrower schemes, agricultural finance or rural commercial banking.
• Track record of mobilizing and managing farmer organizations or aggregator networks.
• Experience preparing clients for bank credit or working in agricultural lending.
• Stakeholder networks in the Volta Region, fluent in English and Ewe.
• Willingness to travel extensively across the region on a weekly basis.

Required skills

• Digital literacy and use of mobile field tools; prior experience with Mergdata or similar agtech platforms is highly desirable.
